3rd generation of a family-owned metal fabrication business established during early 70s, Benito Virata Uy founded GENERAL CONTAINERS, INC. with the help of his sons. They started mass production of stick bearing, steel hinges for windows and doors, tin cans, pick and shovel for construction, household items like, wire cage mousetraps, mosquito sprayer, and rake.

During early to mid-80s, demand for sheet metal stamping suppliers were sought by multinational manufacturing companies especially by the automotive industry and the youngest son Vicente Virata Uy, PMPI President's father, restructured the company and registered business under the name ASIAN METAL INDUSTRIES. The goal then was to make the company name well known across the metal fabrication industry, in spite the unstable economy and difficult situation the country is enduring affected by government crisis and sudden presidential elections, he persevered and strived to become an accredited supplier to leading automotive manufacturers.

Hardwork and perseverance indeed follows success. Leading the company to success and becoming business partners with leading Japanese automotive brands such as Nissan Motors, Philippines, Honda Cars Motor, Philippines and Columbian Motors makers of KIA and Mazda challenged our expertise to be able to efficiently produce larger and complex items in addition with the existing bearing and hinges.

Gaining confidence across the manufacturing industry and with continuous marketing of the company's services, it became better and easier to sell our services and potential to different manufacturing companies and we are fortunate to supply to Panasonic Mfg. Philippines, Corp. and proudly we were able to retain and maintain good, strong business relationship with up to present considering the length of trying and difficult economy our country had been experiencing, we afforded to cope up and sustain delivery of all the metal parts requirements through compliance of their quality management system and had afforded us to gain an ISO accreditation.

Over the years, we had established credibility in the industry, classified, and rated "A" supplier, with 16 fruitful years of business relationship with Panasonic. PMPI in effect, became a familiar name in Refrigeration Industry and we were able to manufacture metal parts for other leading appliance manufacturers such as Concepcion Durables Inc., Koppel and experience gives us enough confidence and assert ourselves to becomevendors to Meralco and other companies that requires our expertise. Determined Going along with the fast changing modern technology we acquired computer-aided machines keep up with the potentials and the demands of the various industry.
